Dwayne Cobb

Owner / Funeral Director

Dwayne was raised in Mineral Bluff. He graduated from Fannin County High School in 1994. He later graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur. He began career in the funeral industry at Hay Gantt Funeral Home in Marietta and then later at Mayes-Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home. He moved home to Fannin County in 1996, and began working at Akins Funeral Home. He is married to Dorinda Akins Cobb. Together they have four children: Blythe, Trudy, Blake, and Claire and three grandchildren: Dexter, Hayden, Leah. Dwayne is member of Sweetgum Lodge #542 F&AM and is a Past Georgia State Master Council for the Associated DeMolay Chapters of Georgia. Dwayne enjoys woodworking and hunting.

Funeral Director / Embalmer

Blake is 2019 graduate of Fannin County High School. After high school, he graduated from John A. Gupton College in Nashville. Blake is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Georgia and Tennessee. In his spare time, Blake enjoys fishing the many lakes within the Tri-State area.

Nathan Hughes

Funeral Director / Embalmer

Nathan is a lifelong resident of Blue Ridge. He graduated from Fannin County High School in 2005. After high school, he graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He is licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in Georgia and Tennessee and a Certified Crematory Operator. He and his wife, Angelia, have two children, Eli and Caroline.

Jonathan Hall

Funeral Director / Embalmer

Jon was born and raised in Blue Ridge. He graduated from Fannin County High School in 2009. From there, he attended and graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Georgia and Tennessee. He is married to Maggie Hall and together they have two children, Adaline and Stover. He enjoys family time, travelling the country, and shooting sporting clays. One of his favorite pastimes is playing fetch with his golden doodle, Georgie.

Claire Cobb Brooks

Office Personnel

Claire was born and raised in Blue Ridge, GA. She is the youngest daughter of Dwayne and Dorinda Cobb. She graduated from Fannin County High School in 2020 and later from Cosmetology Program at North Georgia Technical College. She is a licensed master cosmetologist. She is married to David Brooks. She enjoys spending time with her dog Hazelnut and baking for her friends and family.

Rev. Brett Curtis

Brett is a lifelong resident of the Copper Basin area. He graduated Copper Basin High School in 2007. Later he graduated from Regent University with a Bachelors of Arts in Theological Studies. Brett resides in McCaysville with his wife, Ashley, three sons, Brayden, Jax, and Kye. Brett currently serves as the Pastor of Salem #2 Baptist Church.

Rick Curtis

Certified Crematory Operator, Funeral Attendant

Rick is a lifelong resident of the Copper Basin area. He retired from Frito-Lay before coming to work for Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations. He is a Certified Crematory Operator. Rick is a member of Salem #2 Baptist Church. He lives in Copperhill, with his wife, Charlotte. They have three children, Michelle, Kelly, and Brett; and eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys classic cars and Jeeps. He is a member of North Georgia Classic Cars, where he can be found participating in local car shows.
