Mr. Grady Winston Davenport, age 72, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on January 13, 2021 at the Brian Center Nursing Home in Canton, GA. Born in Copperhill, TN, he was the son of the late Harley Grady and Mary Edna Holt Davenport. Winston was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and truly enjoyed researching the genealogy of his family. He was a member of the McCaysville Church of God and had retired after many years of service with the Circle J Steakhouse in Blue Ridge. He was the last of his seven siblings, which included: Milton Davenport, Clifford Davenport, Harold Davenport, Earl Davenport, Gerald Davenport and Viola Raper. Winston was also preceded in death by an aunt and uncle, Lilly Goss and Theodore Holt; and two nieces, Rebecca Davenport and Gail Mulkey. Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Donnie Davenport, Rev. Wesley Davenport, Jake Davenport, Faye Long, Diane Parker, Tonya Raper, David Davenport, Cindy Ponce and Darrell Davenport; sister-in-law, Louise Raper Davenport; and a host of great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, January 17, 2021 from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Lamb and Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Congregational music was led by David Davenport and accompanied by Tim Nicholson. Serving as pallbearers were Rev. Wesley Davenport, David Davenport, Jeff Parker and Travis Hawkins. Interment followed in Flint Hill Cartecay Cemetery in Gilmer County, GA. The family request that donations be made to help defray final expenses.
