IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Winfred George
Morris
September 11, 1942 – January 24, 2024
Winfred George Morris, age 81, of Epworth, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in Canton, Georgia. He was born on September 11, 1942 in Mineral Bluff, Georgia to the late Harvey George and Etter Ann Pickelsimer Morris.
Winfred was not a big man in stature, however he was a "mans man" and raised his family accordingly. He was such a hard worker in his lifetime and most of it spent working two jobs. Later in life, he achieved his GED during the same year his daughter graduated highschool and also attended Pickens Technical school learning auto body repair. He worked 20 years at the Tennesse Chemical Company and later opened Morris Automotive in 1989 until 2018. Winfred could be stubborn and often hard headed but those traits were used to instill morals, discipline and work ethic to not only his children but to any young person who came to his shop wanting to learn about performance autos. Winfred's love for racing was the center of his life and he was involved in all aspects from driving to fabrication. Some years ago, after suffering a heart attack and undergoing quadruple bypass surgery, Winfred raced three weeks later only to be victorious.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Susan Millsaps Morris; and siblings, Lorrine Henderson, Geneva Reynolds, and Jeanette King.
He is survived by his children, Sherry Morris of Epworth, GA and Steve Morris of Morganton, GA; grandchildren, Hannah Loudermilk and Michael Loudermilk; and siblings, "J.H." James Harvey Morris of Hampton, GA, Loretta Weeks of Blue Ridge, GA, Ella Mae Heaton of Blue Ridge, GA, Tommy (Wanda) Morris of Dawnville, GA, Linda (Steve) Chambers of Morganton, GA, Bobby Morris of Hampton, VA, and Raymond ( Becky) Morris of Morganton, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of other relatives and great friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Claude Mathis officiating. Interment followed in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Michael Loudermilk, Terry Dillard, Randy Dillard, Hayden Swaney, Michael Morris, and Rodney Weeks.
