Mr. William Simms, Jr. age 65, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away on Wednesday January 30, 2008 in the Emory University Hospital. Born in Beverly, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late William, Sr. and Clara Perry Simms. He retired from Delta Airlines as a lead mechanic after many years of service. Later he worked for Home Depot for twelve years as a professional sales associate. Mr. Simms was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was remembered for never meeting a stranger. As a father figure to many he would often offer advice, a kind word and help to his family, friends and neighbors. Some of his hobbies included woodworking and old cars. Mr. Simms was also of the protestant faith. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Brian Simms and one sister, Suzanne Holcomb. Survivors include his wife of forty five years, Linda Simms of the home; sons and daughter-in-laws, John William and Denise Simms of Murphy, NC and William Brian and Heather Simms of San Ramon, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Jean Simms White and husband George of Harvest, AL; grandchildren, Brandon Simms, Justin Simms, Alexis Arnold, Brittany Simms, Michael Simms, Christopher Simms, Maggie Simms, George White and Claire White; and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services were conducted on Monday, February 4, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Yates officiating.
