William Len Ratcliff, age 82, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at his home. Mr. Ratcliff was born on May 19, 1935 in Copperhill, TN to the late Leonard Ernest Ratcliff and Clara Bell Abercrombie Ratcliff. He had worked as a drill repairmen at the Tennessee Copper Company and served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, and working with his tractor. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Ratcliff. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice Lee Chastain Ratcliff; son, Zack (Becky) Ratcliff of Morganton; daughter, Harriet (David) Emig of Mineral Bluff; brother, Jimmy (Pat) Ratcliff; sisters-in-law, Sonja Ratcliff, Mamie Hart, Mozelle Anderson, Betty Shook, and Nancy (Merman) Crulee; brother-in-law, Paul "Bug" (Desma) Chastain; grandchildren, Dustin (Melissa) Long, Luke (Angelyn) Long, and Heather (Scott) Stanley; great grandchildren, Will Long, Mary Evelyn Long, Searlah, Bryer Duvall, Makenzie Duvall, Carson Chambers, Campbell Chambers, McKenzie Chastain, Crews Chastain, and Averey Powell; his beloved dog, B.B. and cat, K.K., several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with Rev. Mathew McDaniel officiating. Music will be provided by Ryan Norton. Interment will follow at Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Dustin Long, Luke Long, Scott Stanley, Jim Holloway, Danny Sanders, and Greg Chambers. The great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Full military honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
