Mr. William C. better known as "Bill" Pickett, age 77, of Blue Ridge passed away Thursday, January 10, 2009 in the Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge. Born in Fulton County, GA, he was the son of the late Samuel Pickett and Joy Caraway Pickett. He worked as a loss control engineer for Kemper Insurance Company in Atlanta, GA. He was a member of Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta and attended New Canaan Baptist Church. He was a master mason in Hapeville Masonic Lodge #590 F&AM and was a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta. He was survived by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn Pickett of Blue Ridge; children, Sherry Kincaid and her husband Larry Kincaid of Blue Ridge, Terry Davenport and his wife Deborah Davenport of Blue Ridge, Michael Davenport and his wife Patrice Davenport of Blue Ridge, Mark Holiday of Atlanta, and Rhonda Davenport of Chatsworth; very special friend, Rev. Marvin Young of Blue Ridge; special grandson, Andy Rogers; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from New Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Young officiating. Music was by Frances Thomas and Lois Patterson. Pallbearers were Larry Kincaid, Randy Whitener, Kevin Franklin, Danny Ritchie, Barry Jack, and Dusty Davenport. Interment followed in New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
