Obituary

Mr. William Hoyt McGill, age 100, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, GA. He was born in Pickens County, GA on December 30, 1914 to the late Thomas William McGill and Laura Allen McGill. He was a baker by trade in Blue Ridge, with his last place of employment being Ingles. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church and was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Huffman McGill; two sons, Dallas McGill and Rev. Donnie McGill; a daughter, Betty Sue Baker; brothers, Bill McGill, Woodrow McGill, Monroe McGill, Gaston McGill, Harrison McGill, Charlie McGill, Jesse McGill, Clifford McGill, and Willard McGill; and sister, Lois Willis. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, William Hoyt McGill, Jr. and Robbie McGill of Morganton; grandchildren, Tim McGill, Lynn Cole, Scottie Beavers, Michelle Beavers, Amy Messer, and Matthew McGill; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 12:00 noon from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Harold Weeks and Rev. Jim Gilliland officiating. Music was by the Farmer Family. Pallbearers were James Messer, Matthew McGill, Scottie Beavers, Tim McGill, Thomas Lowery, and James Edward McGill. Honorary pallbearer was Harold Lowery.
