Obituary

The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services for Mr. William Joseph "Bill" Lewis, age 70, of McCaysville, Ga., who died Monday, April 19, 2010, at his home. Mr. Lewis was retired from the American Can Company in Forrest Park, Ga. where he worked as a millwright for over 30 years. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a native of Ducktown, and was a veteran of World War 2, serving in Germany. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Lewis. He is survived by his wife or 44 years, Barbara Jane (Galloway) Lewis of the home, one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Hank Gilley of West Point, Va., one sister, Suzy Russell of Ducktown, Tenn., one brother, Jerry Lewis of Turtletown, Tenn., one grandson, Adam William Gilley and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Al Patterson officiating. Music will be by Vicki Bice. Interment will be at Zion Hill Cemetery in Turtletown, Tenn. Pallbearers will be Doug Ausburn, Jerry Lewis, Hank Gilley, Adam Gilley, Jim Galloway and Dakota. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
