The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. William Leroy Bailey, age 61, of Morganton, GA who passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009 at his home. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 26, 1948 to the late James L. Bailey and Dawn Della Granzow Bailey. He worked as a cemetery superintendent. Mr. Bailey was a member and deacon of Tilley Baptist Church where also served as a Sunday School teacher and piano player. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching baseball, football, and golf. He is survived by his wife, Violet Waters Bailey of Morganton; daughter and son-in-law, Daun Therese Loftis and William Loftis of McCaysville; and a grandson, Gabriel James William Loftis. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Richard Peacock and Rev. Victor Waters officiating. Music will be by Rusty Thomas, The Victor Waters Family, and Mary Mealer. Interment will follow in Wilscot Cemetery.
