Obituary

William "Roy" Ausburn, age 83, passed away Thursday evening, July 31, 2008 from an extended illness. Born October 3, 1924, he was the son of Paul and Mamie Atkins Ausburn of Rome, Georgia. In 1952, he married Pauline Davenport. He was an active member of the United States Army and served in World War II from 1943-1946. He was preceded in death by both parents; brothers Donald Ausburn, Allen Ausburn, Homer Ausburn, and Will Ed Ausburn; and sisters, Roberta Carney, Ruby Eubanks, and Ruth Thacker. Mr. Ausburn was an active member of Lebanon Baptist Church and had worked for the Tennessee Chemical Company. He was also an avid Gardner. Survivors include his wife of fifty six years, Pauline Ausburn of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and David Kinman of Blue Ridge; son, Edward Haygood of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Matthew, Preston and Skylar Kinman, all of Blue Ridge, Jason and Chad Haygood of Adairsville, GA, and Tara Duke of Rome, GA. He is also survived by a "special son" Thomas Graham of Epworth, GA and a "special daughter" Sandi (Foster) Malecki also Epworth, GA. Nine great grandchildren also survive. The family will receive friends at Lebanon Baptist Church from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2008 with funeral service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. Reverend Denise Bryson Caldwell, Reverend Claude Mathis, Reverend David McClendon, and Reverend Delmar Davenport will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be the deacons of Lebanon Baptist Church. Singing will be "Papa" Jack (Grady) Bryson and Jack Caldwell. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to be made to the Harbor Ministries Food Pantry at Harbor Ministries Attn: Food Pantry P.O. Box 388 McCaysville, GA 30555.
