The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Willard Goldman Jones, age 88, of Ducktown, who passed away Saturday, March 1st in the Copper Basin Medical Center. Willard was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a son of the late Thomas and Cora Trantham Jones. He was retired from the Cities Service Company and was a member of the Bear Paw Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of W.W.II serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by brothers Delma Jones, Wilford Jones and sister Olivo Harrison. He is survived by brothers Wilbert Jones of Cohutta, GA, Winston Jones of Turtletown, TN; sister Thelma Jane Jones of Cohutta, GA; special friend June Crowder of Ducktown, TN; step children Annette, Sandra, Faye and Hoyt Newman and Brenda Collis. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 4th at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Freddy Maney, Rev. Donald Weaver and Rev. Doug Howard officiating. Music will be by Allen Harris, Rev. Freddy Maney , and the Bear Paw Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Suit, NC with full military honors conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
