Mrs. Willard Wallis Howard, age 90, of Blue Ridge, GA died Monday, March 8, 2010. Mrs. Howard was born April 29, 1919 in Jackson's Gap, Alabama to the late James David and Olive Banks Wallis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Albert Howard, and by brothers, James D. Wallis and John R. Wallis. She lived for many years in Chattanooga, TN, and for more than 50 years was an active member of the Homemakers Club in Tennessee and Georgia. She was also a member of the Friendship Club at Country Stitches Quilt Shop. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and enjoyed gardening, canning, and crafts. Mrs. Howard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge. She was a loving and beloved mother and grandmother. She is survived by three sons and their wives, David and Barbara Howard of Chattanooga, Bill and Connie Howard of Cleveland, TN, and Richard and Belinda Howard of Jasper, GA. She is also survived by two daughters, Shirley Copeland of Blue Ridge and Laverne Weeks of Blue Ridge and Hiawassee; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Juanita W. Burnett, and a brother, Harold B. Wallis, both of Chattanooga. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Harold Willis officiating. Music will be by Imogene Stewart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Fannin Christian Learning Center, 2324 E. First Street, Blue Ridge, GA 30513.
