The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Willard Cantrell, age 63, of Copperhill, who passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Willard was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a member of the Mt. Zion "Tumbling Creek" Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and served as Sunday School teacher for more than twenty years. He was retired from Patterson's Lumber Mill where he worked as a Planer Operator. He was preceded in death by his parents, Holland and Ola Smith Cantrell and a brother, Leslie Cantrell. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era serving in the U.S.Army. He is survived by his wife, Dora Jean Cantrell of the home; three sons, Jesse Deal, Adam Deal and Cory Deal, all of Copperhill, TN; two brothers, Edgar Cantrell of Epworth, GA, Linard Cantrell of Jellico, TN; four sisters, Helen Huffman of McCaysville, GA, Mary Dalton of Copperhill, TN, Loretta Rhodes of Blue Ridge, GA, Irene Henson of McCaysville, GA; grandchildren, Justin Deal, Whitney Deal and Trent Deal. Many other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 5, at 2:00 p.m. from the Mt. Zion "Tumbling Creek" Baptist church with Rev. Clifton Patterson, Rev. Lloyd Deal and Rev. Gerald Payne officiating. Music will be by the Deal Family. Pallbearers include: Jamie Cantrell, Russell Cantrell, Daniel Henson, Ed Henson, William Patterson, Jackie Huffman and Fred Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers include Ed Cantrell, Danny Patterson, Lee Davis, John Newton, Sr., Richard, Randy, Alex, George, Leroy and Carlton Deal. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
