Wilhelmina Elizabeth, affectionately known to family and friends as "Mina" Verner, age 55 of Copperhill,TN passed away Monday, December 29, 2008. Mrs. Verner was born in Newark, New Jersey on August 1, 1953 to the late John and Sara Levin Simpson. She was a homemaker. A member of the McCaysville Church of God and a member of the East Polk Fire and Rescue. She was preceded in death by her brother, John T. Simpson. She is survived by her husband Scott Verner of the home; one son, Patrick E. Smith, Jr. of Copperhill, TN; daughter, Lisa Smith of Savannah, GA; step daughter, Brittany Nicole Verner and Kayla Marie Verner, both of Copperhill, TN; brother Roy Simpson of Allentown, New Jersey; Half sister Mae Monroe of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Kyle Smith, C.J.Greene and Lorna Smith.A memorial service was conducted Thursday, January 1st at 7:00 PM from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Pastor Chris Taylor officiating. Members of the East Polk county Fire and Rescue Squad served as honorary pallbearers.
