Wayne Patterson, age 83, of McCaysville passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at his home. He was born on July 4, 1934 in Fannin County to the late Evie Patterson. Mr. Patterson worked at Inland Steel in the furnace department and served in the United States Army. Along with his mother, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Krewson Patterson; sons, James Bell and William Bell; granddaughter, Christy Elliott; and a brother, Melvin Patterson.Survivors are five daughters, Wanda McCormick (Stephen) of Dyersburg, TN, Sandy Thompson of Colorado Springs, CO, Jeanette Gall (Larry) of Hammond, IN, Jolene White of Fort Wayne, IN, Shirley Frazier of Hammond, IN, Wanda Scansy (Greg), and Kim Pulley; three sons, Steve Patterson of Hammond, IN, William Patterson (Karen) of Hope Mills, NC and Victor Allen Davis Patterson of Knoxville, TN; two sisters, Barbara Whitmore (Ray) of TN and Trish Curtis (Carl) of McCaysville, GA; sister-in-law, Sandy Floyd (Mickey)of Porter, Indiana; and was loved by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Waters officiating. Interment followed in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Brian Elliott, Blake Elliott, Kade Elliott, Jake Elliott, Max Hubbard, and Jason Hubbard.
