Obituary

Walter Jason Spurling, age 69, of Ducktown, passed away Thursday, July 26th at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Mr. Spurling was a native of the Copper Basin area and was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie & Meadie Stillwell Spurling and a sister, Louise Spurling Runion. He was of the Pentecostal Faith and was a retired construction worker.
He was survived by one son Gary & wife Olga Spurling of Cleveland, TN; one brother, Carl Spurling of Copperhill, TN; two grandchildren, Gary Ryan Spurling and Rebecca Ann Spurling, both of Blue Ridge, GA; one great-grandson, Jacob Ryan Spurling of Blue Ridge, GA; Many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 29 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. John Wesley McCann and Rev. Scott Hembree officiating. Music was by Melinda Trimm & Melissa Hicks. Pallbearers were Gary Ryan Spurling, Randall Spurling, Brandon Kaylor, David Stillwell, Jason Payne, Josh Runion, Jonathan Runion, Jerry Allen and Gary Spurling. Interment followed in the Macedonia "Wolf Creek" cemetery.
