Mrs. Vivian Kay Adcock Ritchie, age 69, of Epworth, passed away at her home, surrounded by family and friends, on Thursday, February 11, 2021. She was born on December 19, 1951, in Copperhill, to the late E.M. "Jack" Adcock and Doris Gibson Adcock. Kay was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. She worked in hospital administration prior to her retirement, working for both Fannin Regional Hospital and later Copper Basin Medical Center. Kay was an avid fisherwoman, who especially enjoyed her time on Lake Hiawassee and Lake Apalachia.
Kay is survived by her husband, George Bennie Ritchie; niece, Julie Adcock Welch; Eric (Tori) Welch; nephew and his children, Jason Adcock, Doreen, Jacob, and Isabella; brother, Melvin J. Adcock; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 15, 2021 from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Graves officiating. Music was provided by Margaret Sharp Newman. Interment followed in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bennie Ritchie, Kevin Franklin, Jeff Johnson, Donnie Sperin, Eric Welch, and Jason Adcock. Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Welch, Roger Ritchie, and Tommy Payne. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
