Virginia A. "Mimi" Battaglia, age 93, was taken by her Angels on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 8:29 pm. Born in Binghamton, NY, on September 1, 1927, she attended St. Marys Catholic Convent until the age of 16, when our father, Anthony S. Battaglia, asked for her hand in marriage on June 26, 1948, they were married for 23 years. She is survived by her children, Anthony "Skip", Sandra, Brian, and Brenda and 18 grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and her two nieces. Virginia was the 8th Queen of Hearts of St. Petersburg in 1966. She supported All Childrens Hospital, Womens Service League, and she was the first recipient of Boley Angels Inaugural Mary R. Koenig Founders Award. Thanks to Loretta Ross and her family for giving my mother another family, especially at the holidays. Mimi loved to entertain, there was always a theme and her Christmas Eve parties with Santa Claus on the fire truck and all her family, grandchildren, and neighbors. Mimi, we will miss your chili but someone special to you has the gift of chili and it will be carried on every year. There is love in every heart you touched and to the birds who fly around as we honor the spirit of elegance and grace you brought to all of us. We would be honored to have your presence at a Celebration of Mimis Life on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 1:30 pm at St. Judes Cathedral Church. Interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 3:00 pm. A reception will be held from St. Petersburg Yacht Club at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boley Centers online at BoleyCenters.org. The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
