Mr. Virgil Lee Goddard, age 79, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 in the Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA. Mr. Goddard was born in Floyd County, GA on April 12, 1932 to the late Flim Goddard and Emmer Lou Curtis Goddard. He worked as a welder for Babcock and Wilcox and was a member of Sunrise Tabernacle. He is survived by the his wife, Daisy Rhodes Goddard of Blue Ridge; son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Linda Goddard of Blue Ridge; daughters and sons-in-law, Harriet and Gary Hiener of Barberton, OH, Pauliet and Bill Machamer of Sherrodsville, OH, Linda and Randy Strickland of Blue Ridge, GA and Shirley and David Rogers of Blairsville, GA; a sister, Aileen Wilson of Rome, GA; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral services wil be conducted Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Pastor Larry Turner and Pastor Fred Webb officiating. Music will be by Brenda Turner. Pallbearers will be Harold Rhodes, David Rogers, Joshua Wilson, Shawn Wilson, Nathen Strickland, Bryan MacHamer and Paul Hiener. Interment will follow in Sunrise Tabernacle with full military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
