The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services for Mrs. Viola Green Patterson, age 76, of Epworth, GA, who passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 at her home. Born in Athens, TN, on June 5, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Roy James and Mary Goins Flowers. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Patterson had lived in Epworth, GA for thirty-five years and Cohutta, GA for twenty years. She was a member of Millsaps Baptist Church. Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by husband, Oscar Wiley Green; husband, Lewis Patterson; son, Kenneth Green; step-son, Leslie Patterson; brothers, Roy Lee Flowers, Walter Flowers, Jr., Albert Flowers and Johnny Flowers; sisters, Geneva Wilcox and Leona Ricker.Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Marsha Green of Epworth, GA and Steve and Christy Green of Epworth, GA; step-son, Troy Patterson of Blue Ridge, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Jackie Meyers of Canton, GA; daughter, Patti Patterson of Blue Ridge, GA; step-daughter and husband, Joanne and Earl Raburn of McCaysville, GA; step-daughter, Linda Sue Sheppard of Cohutta, GA; step-daughter, Wilma Flowers of Cohutta, GA; sister, Fannie Lou Mencer of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Scotty Shelton, Mark Shelton, Jason Green, Ashley Green, Danny Green, Randy Meyers, Rhonda Lubitz and Hannah Gibson; step-grandson Roy Lee Green; nine great-grandchildren also survive.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from Millsaps Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Green and Minister J.W. Patterson officiating. Music will be by Minister J.W. Patterson. Pallbearers will be Mark Shelton, Scotty Shelton, Randy Meyers, Danny Green, Ryan Patterson and Jason Green. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Kenrick and Dennis Flowers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
