Obituary

Mr. Van Edward Dilbeck, age 65. of Copperhill, TN passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at his home. Mr. Dilbeck was born in Fannin County, GA on July 27, 1947. He worked as a mechanic for the City of McCaysville and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Dilbeck. He is survived by his wife, Sue Patton Dilbeck of Copperhill, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Daven Dilbeck and Alicia Dilbeck of Mineral Bluff, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Jeri Sue McConnell and Harry McConnell of Copperhill; mother, Lillian Maynor Dilbeck of McCaysville; brother, Bryan Dilbeck of McCaysville; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Galloway of Wolf Creek, NC and Margaret Garland and Doug Garland of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren, Megan Allison, Wesley Harris, Mitchell Harris, Halle Dilbeck, and Grant Dilbeck; and a great grandchild, Evan Allison. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Randy Hooper officiating. Music was by Westley Harris. Pallbearers were Jonathan Allen, James Woods, Tommy Lackey, Tommy Parris, Curtis Taylor, Ted Weaver, Jamie Queen, and Robert Ensley. Honorary pallbearers were Dale Carver, Jerry Gurley, Winfred Morris, Jerry Radford, Greg Brooks, Tim Watson, Todd Dilbeck, Kenneth "Greasy" Stewart, ad Charlie Thomas. Interment followed in Pleasant Hill (Airport Road) Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Donations in memory of Mr. Dilbeck may be made to the Empty Stocking Fund P.O. Box 2563 Blue Ridge, GA 30513. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements. .
