The Akins Funeral of Copperhill announces the death of Troy Hicks, age 72, of Farner, TN who passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011. Troy was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a member of the Towee Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Homer Lee and Lillian Gertrude Jones Hicks. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Lynn Pate, Betty Allen and Becky Womble.He is survived by his wife Linda Faye Hughes Hicks of the home; sons, John Hicks of Farner, TN, Tim Hicks of Benton, TN, Thomas Hicks of Tellico Plains, TN; daughters, Sharon Ray of Benton, TN, Leola Bottoms of Farner, TN, Tracy Stewart of Murphy, NC; brothers, Sidney Lee Hicks of Murphy, NC, Lunie Ray Hicks of Bilton, TX, T.J. Hicks of Farner, TN, Melvin Hicks of Turtletown, TN; sisters, Lillian Dillard of Murphy, NC, Minnie Mashburn of Farner, TN; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild.Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 1st at 11:00 a.m. from the New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Mitchell Allen, Rev. Guinn Green and Rev. Steve Dills officiating. Music will be by the Joint Heirs and Casey Dillard. Pallbearers include Jon Kimsey, Doyle Payne, Isaac Hicks, Mark Dalton, Pearly Mashburn, Raymond Allen, Nathan Henderson and Adam Taylor. Honorary pallbearers include, Bill Manning, Richard Jones, Kenton Kimsey, Houston Martin, Kenneth Martin and Allen Martin. Interment will follow in the Brock Cemetery. The body will be taken to the home at 1330 Farner Road, Farner, TN for friends to call after 12:00 noon Saturday, July 30th until the funeral hour on Monday.
