The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Tommy McArthur Wilson, age 64, of Morganton, GA who passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at his home. Mr. Wilson was born in Fannin County on May 16, 1945 to the late Horace Greely Wilson and Jessie Gladys Chastain Wilson. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Wilson; and a sisters, Audra, Peggy, and Doris Wilson. Mr. Wilson retired from Blue Ridge Mountain EMC where he was recognized as a 25 year employee having worked in the underground cable maintenance department. He was a member of New Hope (Flint Hill) Baptist Church. Mr. Wilson is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Rob Gibson of Morganton, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul (Cotton) and Ailene Wilson of Rome, GA, Bill and Kathy Wilson of Morganton, GA, and Jerry Wilson of Morganton, GA; sister-in-law, Annette Wilson of Mineral Bluff, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Paul Parker of Villa Rica, GA, Jean and Gary Herman of Hickory, NC, Patsy Wilson of Blairsville, GA, Judy and Joe Collins of Ellijay, GA, and Deborah and David Baldwin of Morganton, GA; grandsons, Dalton, Dakota, and Chris Wilson. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Evan Hughes officiating. Music will be by Robert Buchanan and Tommy Dowdy. Pallbearers will be Jerry Lee Eller, J.L. Tanner, Dustin Young, Clifford Dockery, Curtis Holloway, and Tony Denton. Interment will follow in Toccoa Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday and especially from 6:00-9:00 Tuesday evening. Those that wish may make donations to help with final expenses.
