Tommy Lee Vannoy, age 79, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 at his home. He was born on April 30, 1943, in Glade Springs, VA, to the late Jesse Monroe Vannoy and Gladys Irene Boone Vannoy. Early in life he served in the United States Army and continued in the Army Reserves. He then served in the US Government initially as a Topographer and transferred to Intel at Fort McPherson for 37 years. In retirement he was a beloved citizen of Fannin county, living and working in Blue Ridge for 25 years. He built homes and was a home inspector for many years and he owned and operated Blue Ridge Swim and Tennis. He was also a dedicated civil servant. He was a member of the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church and a key figure in the building of the new church. He was a proud patron, past President and Lieutenant Governor of the Blue Ridge Kiwanis Club. Tommy loved his family, Alabama football and Lake Blue Ridge.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael J. Vannoy; and numerous siblings.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Judy German Vannoy; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Tina Vannoy; daughter; Cynthia Vannoy; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Kim German and Ryan and Mary Kathryn German; sister, Blanche Yvonne "Judy" Wood; grandchildren, Hannah Stockton Orth (Aaron), Ryan Vannoy (Katie),Emily Vannoy,Natalie German, Davis German, William German, and Luke German; great-grandchildren, Rachel Orth, Courtney Orth, Parker Orth, and Emmett Vannoy; and many, many friends.

The family visited with friends at Akins-Cobb of Blue Ridge, on Monday Evening, March 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services was conducted on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM, from the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Sam Hamby officiating. Military honors were rendered by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Bill Ecleberger, Ken Brenneman, Dave Erickson, Kevin Panter, Gary Keel, and Troy Shirbroun.

Private graveside services were held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, GA. Pallbearers were Alan Vannoy, Ryan Vannoy, Matt German, Ryan German, Davis German, and William German.
