Tommy Gene Jones, age 81, of Blairsville, GA passed away Friday, February 25, 2017. Mr. Jones was born in the Fry Community of McCaysville. Mr. Jones served his country, retiring from the United States Air Force as an Engineer. He served two deployments to Vietnam. He also was a member of the VFW and Foreign Legion. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Frytown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jean Jones, great granddaughter, Rosemary Jones and several brothers.He is survived by children, Donald Gene Jones, Sr of Blairsville, GA, Linda Jones (Jeff) Kyle of Blairsville, GA, Madysen Faith Jones of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Donnie Jones, Jr, Natasha Curtis, Katrina Parks, Jonathan Selley, Jennifer Selley, Stephanie Dillard and Stephanie Jones; and great-grandchildren, Lexi Bowen, Brayden Bowen, Tommy Jones, Riley Parks, Xander Parks, and Talyn Curtis.A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill.
