Tomiko Horimoto Ambrose, "Mamasan," age 89, of Copperhill, TN, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 in the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law, Kimiko and Greg Andrews, in Copperhill, TN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ambrose; son, Robert Albright; and 3 siblings. She is survived by her 4 children, George Albright, Nannette Albright, Stephen Albright, and Kimiko Andrews, as well as 3 siblings, 9 granchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Tomiko was born in Fukuoka, Japan, to the late Inutaroo Horimoto and Moto Fujiwara. She left her family and home to start a new family in a new country, learning a new language and customs. She raised 5 children, essentially on her own, to become self-sufficient and strong. She was a strong and determined mother. Many described Tomiko as beautiful, gentle, humble, warm, and welcoming. She was happy to see anyone that dropped in just to say hi, and welcomed those that needed a place to stay for a while. Tomiko never arrived without a gift, whether it was something she handcrafted, grew in her garden, or baked. She always shared her delight in spending time with others and watched from her porch as they drove away, never forgetting to say, "drive be careful." She was the gift, our Mamasan, and she was well loved.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Copperhill Chapel with Dr. Rusty Thomas officiating. Music was provided by Edward Vest. Flowers are accepted, however, if you desire, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Tomiko's memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation at alz.org.
