Mr. Thomas Vernon Shields, Jr. age 65, of Turtletown, TN passed away Friday, June 14, 2013. Mr. Shields was born in Polk County, TN to the late Thomas Shields, Sr and Billie Jane Simonds Shields. He was a Veteran of the U.S.Army and a member of the TVA Operating Engineer Local 917. He was of the Baptist Faith.Survivors include his wife, whom he married October 15, 1966, Mary Alice Padgett Shields of the home; Children, Brandon Shields of Ducktown, TN, Matthew (Miranda) Shields of Farner, TN, Mary Jane (Jamie) Cox of Blue Ridge, GA, Brittney (Jason) Allen of Turtletown, TN; four grandchildren, Keisha Dover, Kayla Davenport, Carly Cox and Landon Allen; two great-grandchildren, Kylan Dover and Kyndall Dover. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, June 15th at 2:00 p.m. from the Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Renny Whittenbarger officiating.
