IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Delano
Seabolt
November 14, 1937 – September 26, 2024
Thomas Delano Seabolt died peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024. He was 86 years old. Born on November 14, 1937, he was the oldest child of Homer David and Celia Anderson Seabolt.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Seabolt Bonds, brother, Cecil Seabolt, sister-in-law, Nora Queen Kilpatrick, and his wife, Jean LaRue Queen Seabolt with whom he shared 46 amazing years.
Surviving members of his family include: his daughters, Sheryl Seabolt of Ellijay, GA, and Nora (Dr. Luke) Lee of Jonesborough, TN; his grandchildren, Thomas Aaron Seabolt Sr., Mallory (Alex) Collins, Dr. Matthew (Laura) Lee, and Dr. Megan Lee; his great-grandchildren, Thomas Aaron Seabolt Jr., Maryjean Seabolt, Tyvan Seabolt, Camryn Collins, Chandler Collins, and Cayden Collins; his sister-in-law, Peggy Queen Arp; his brother-in-law, S.J. Kilpatrick; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Thomas worked for 41 years at the local plant as a purchasing agent. Then, he worked at the Garden Center at Walmart and at Lance Trucking Company. Following retirement, he served as mayor of McCaysville for 12 years. He received great pleasure from helping his community and was truly proud to be a part of the city of McCaysville.
One of Thomas' passions was baseball. Over 13 years, he coached The McCaysville Twins (10-12 year olds), The McCaysville Angels (13-14 year olds), and The Fannin A's (15-19 year olds). During these years, he took several teams to the state championships. Although he only had daughters, he treated his players like sons. Additionally, Thomas volunteered at the Morganton-Mountaintown Baptist Association Free Medical Clinic. He greeted patients and took blood pressures for 12 years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Both of his grandsons have very fond memories of fishing with their "Dad Tom".
Thomas loved life and found joy in being around people. He never met a stranger. He was often described as friendly, caring, and affectionate. His positive attitude and contagious laugh brought happiness to any gathering. Thomas will definitely be missed.
