Thomas Bryan Higdon, 75, born and raised in Blue Ridge, GA, passed away in St. Augustine, FL on December 29, 2009 after an extended illness. He moved to Lakeland, FL in 1965 where he worked as a foreman for Owens Illinois Glass Company for 30 years. He moved to St. Augustine, FL in June of 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Elsie Baugh Higdon of Blue Ridge. Mr. Higdon served his country in the United States Air Force and was also of the Baptist Faith.Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Doris Cole Higdon of St. Augustine, FL; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Patricia Higdon of Bartow, FL; his daughters and son-in-laws, Claudia and Herbert Mincey of Winter Haven, FL and Karen and William Walter of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Adam, Jason and Brandon Higdon and Justin and Jessica Mincey and Bryan and Shannon Walter; step grandchildren, Michael, Nicki and Zackary; great grandchildren, Kaden Mincey and Anastasia Wilgis; step great grandchildren Aubrey and Logan. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday January 2, at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Brandon, Adam, Jason, James Higdon, Bill Walter and Bryan Walter.
