Tommy Fortenberry, age 52 of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013 at his home. Tommy was born on May 13, 1960 in Union County, GA. He worked for six years in the Fannin Road Department and was self-employed in house construction. Tommy was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Thomas Fortenberry; sister, Mary Lou Fortenberry; brothers, Earl Patterson and an infant brother.Survivors are his mother, Edith White of Blue Ridge, GA; daugther and son-in-law, Sheila and Matt Stritmatter of Troy, MI; brother, L.C. Fortenberry of Blue Ridge, GA; three grandchildren, Erika, Seth and Owen Stritmatter also survive.Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Denny Hawkins officiating. Music will be by David Anderson. Pallearers will be Mike Hawkins, Jeryl Fortenberry, Ricky Patterson, Charles Mull, Stanley Bruce and Terry Winkler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Seth Stritmatter and Owen Stritmatter. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday after 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Tommy Fortenberry to Akins Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
