The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Thomas (Grady) Chastain of Copperhill, TN who passed away on Friday, November 6, 2009 at his home. He was born in Fannin County, GA on May 26, 1925 to the late John Benjamin and Arimintie Elinarie Quarry Chastain. Mr. Chastain was retired from Cities Service in the Roaster Plant as a foreman. He was a member of Mount Zion (Tumbling Creek) Baptist Church. Mr. Chastain served his country as a marine in World War II. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma P. Rose Chastain; sons, Tommy and Eddie Chastain; grandson, Michael William Chastain. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, June and Jim Patterson of Copperhill, TN; grandchildren, Trent Chastain, Adrian Chastain, Jaime Mann, Dana Chastain, Philip Chastain, Grady Patterson and Kari Patterson; great grandchildren, Shaylee Stone and Carter Mann. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Deal and Rev. Gerald Payne officiating. Music will be by the Deal Family. Interment will follow in Chastain Cemetery with full military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Graveside music will be by Jill Whitaker. Pallbearers will be Randy Deal, Matthew Deal, Kyle Ballew, Bryan Allen, C.M. Talley and Jimmy Payne.
