Mrs. Thelma Phillips Womble, age 84, of Turtletown, TN, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008. Mrs. Womble was born in Transylvania County, NC and was the daughter of the late James Emerson and Bessie Owens McDowell. She was a homemaker, owner of Granny's Odds and Ends Shop in Murphy, NC, and a member of the Community Baptist Church in Farner, TN. Mrs. Womble was preceded in death by sons, Tommy Woodward and Kenneth Woodward.Survivors include her husband, Felmond Womble of Farner, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Claudette Phillips of Murphy, NC; son, James Woodward of OR; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Sue and Ron Mason of Andrews, NC; daughter, Molly Tosh of Murphy, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and J.D. Seabolt of Blairsville, GA; daughter, Shirley Malcolm of MI; step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, Junior and Jessie Phillips of Gastonia, NC, Jackie and Linda Phillips of Robbinsville, NC, Frankie and Joann Womble of Farner, TN, TN, Johnny and Rita Womble of Cleveland, TN; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Dora and David Hayes of Oldfort, TN and step-daughter, Christy Presswood of Cleveland, TN; sister Mattie Speed of Clayton, GA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 28, at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Allen officiating. Music was by Judy Buchanan and Calla Mae Miller. Pallbearers were Brian Radford, Daniel Radford, Justin Phillips, Josh Clark, Waylon Radford, Norman Phillips and Randall Thompson. Interment followed in the Turtletown Baptist Church Cemetery.
