Thelma Marie Brown, age 55, of Atlanta, GA, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Bon in Blue Ridge, GA she was the daughter of the late Frank J. Brown and Reathel Pulliam Brown. She had worked as a proof reader for a financial publisher. She is survived by a long time friend and companion, Carol Tibbles of Atlanta, GA; the daughter of her heart, Melanie Marie Marks of Cumming, GA; two sisters, Tina Brown of Blue Ridge, GA and Helen Brown of Panama City, FL; three brothers, Willard Brown, Jerry Brown, and James Brown all of Atlanta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 26, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willie Young officiating. Interment followed in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that donations be made to the Winship Cancer Institute at 1762 Clifton Rd. Plaza 1000 Atlanta, GA 30022.
