The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Sylvia Carringer Satterfield, age 91, of Turtletown, TN who went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Copper Basin Medical Center in Ducktown after a brief illness. She was born on April 8, 1919 in Tellico Plains, TN to Elsberry and Callie Odom Carringer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Varlin Satterfield in 1992; and three daughters, Carolyn, Sheila and Rosalee.She is survived by sons, J.C. Carringer of Chattanooga, TN, Steve Satterfield of Turtletown, TN; daughters, Shirley (Dennis) Padgett of Blue Ridge, GA and Clea Brown of Turtletown, TN; brothers, Charles and Wayne Carringer of Gastonia, NC and sister Fleeta Mae Carringer of Gastonia, NC. Numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.Visitation will be at Akins of Copperhill Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Thursday, January 27th with graveside services to follow in the Zion Hill Cemetery in Turtletown with Rev. Steve Ware officiating. Pallbearers are, Chuck Brown, Jake and Nathan Rogers, Neal Perenich, Justin Ware and Josh Burkett. Honorary Pallbearer will be Nathan Brown.
