Sylvia Godfrey, age 83, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 in the Heritage Health Care Center in Blue Ridge, GA. Mrs. Godfrey was born on November 1, 1929 in Benton, TN to the late Charles Talley and Jewel Porter Talley. She was a member of Bethel Chruch. She was known as a loving wife, mother, and "Granny" and enjoyed arts, crafts, and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tommy Godfrey; son, Rodney James Godfrey; grandson, Eric Godfrey; brothers, Robert Talley, Wallace Talley, Walter Talley, J.C. Talley, and Hoyt Martin; sisters, Anzelee Nelson and Stella Johnson. She is survived by children and spouses, Sarah Verner and Marvin E. Verner, Jr. of Blue Ridge, Randy Steve Godfrey and Kathy B. Godfrey of Blue Ridge, and Ricky Godfrey and Linda Godfrey of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Cristi Lynn Verner, Steve Godfrey, Chip (Miranda) Verner, Missy Treadaway, Tara Nicholson, Michelle Hardin, and Jacob Godfrey; 13 great grandchildren; nephew, Homer Johnson, Jr. and other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. David McLendon officiating. Music was by Homer Johnson, Jr., and Shane and Missy Treadaway. Pallbearers were Chip Verner, Tim Godrey, Tommy Ledford, Daniel Cox, Robert Germen, and Kenny Cook.
