Sybil Ethelene Arp Brown, age 81, passed away at the Union County Nursing Home on May 12, 2025, following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 22, 1944 in Mineral Bluff, Georgia to Wade Wesley Arp and Nellie Virginia Bell Arp.

After graduating from East Fannin High School, she went to work at Van Raalte Company in Blue Ridge, continuing her employment there until the plant closed. She then was employed at Tice Yarns and Thermal Twist.

Sybil married the love of her life, Robert Jonathan Brown in June of 1971. After several years, they moved from Blue Ridge to the Pantertown community. Sybil Loved animals, gardening beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables, and cooking. In her retirement years, she volunteered for many needs in the area, especially at Life Care of Ducktown. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill, and was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Nellie Arp; her husband, Robert Jonathan Brown; brother, Jerry Arp; sister, Claire Arp; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jabaley Arp.

She will be greatly missed by her immediate family, Danny and Patricia Brown, Carlton Brown, Becky and Brannon Dyer, Rachel and Robby Brown; great grandchildren, Parks, Justice, Ruby, and Sarah Burns; brothers, Morgan Arp, Sidney and Sharon Arp, and Richard Arp; nieces and nephews, Angie Arp, David Arp, Christie and Paul Gribble, Thomas and Tori Arp; John Arp, Blake Arp, Amanda Cross, Phillip Arp, and Grant Arp.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill with Rev. Jeff Brown and Rev. Chris Clark officiating. Music was provided by Rev. Ken Bennett, Mr. Vernon Owenby, and Mrs. Tammie Mason. Interment followed in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Richard Arp, Danny Brown, Carlton Brown, Robby Brown, Brannon Dyer, and Justice Dyer. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, May 14, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
