IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sue J.
Humphrey
July 26, 1935 – February 5, 2026
Sue J. Humphrey, age 90, of Morganton, Georgia passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Humphrey was born on July 26, 1935, in Ellijay, Georgia, to the late Frank W. Jarrett and the late Thelma Ray Jarrett. She worked for many years as an accounting clerk with Georgia Power.
Known in the community as "Mama Sue," she enjoyed reading to children at the local school and never met a stranger. She loved her family deeply-especially her grandchildren-and could often be found at their sporting events cheering them on. She enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and was a member of Morganton Baptist Church.
She was also well known for telling you exactly how it is, a trait that made people smile, kept everyone honest, and was part of what made her so memorable to those who knew her.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, S.G. Humphrey, Jr.; son, Mark Holland Humphrey; siblings, Myrta Ann (Jim) Taylor and Anna Lou (Estus) Wilson; brother-in-law, James Holloway; niece, Mary Taylor Shamock; and nephew, Steve Taylor.
She is survived by her children, David (Terry) Humphrey and Lee (Anita) Humphrey; grandchildren, Ryan (Haley) Humphrey, Lindsey (Jack) Roper, and Holland Humphrey; great-grandchildren, Noah Humphrey, Eli Humphrey, and Gracie Sue Roper; sister, Judy Holloway; and niece, Nancy Kubiak.
