Steve E. Jones of Blue Ridge, GA peacefully walked into heaven surrounded by family after battling multiple health complications.

Steve was born on May 14, 1953 in Copperhill, TN. In 1976 at the age of 23, Steve sustained a spinal cord injury from a gun shot wound. Though this was a pivotal moment of his life, he certainly did not let this define him. In 1978, he married his love of 47 years, Shereida. Together as entrepreneurs they operated many successful businesses, including the most locally famous Copper Pantry Conoco in McCaysville with their fried chicken tenders and tater logs.

Despite the many health challenges he faced throughout his journey, Steve was known for being a social butterfly, his generosity, and his continuous positive outlook on life. He enjoyed time with his family, driving pontoons, fast cars, Georgia football, the Atlanta Braves, and a good slot machine. We hope that in heaven he also takes up running or dancing. He will be missed dearly.

Steve is survived by his wife, Shereida and daughter Sally Ann Nichols (Matthew); aunts Linda Arp and Sonja Ratcliff; father-in-law Jack Suits; sisters-in-law Kimberley Moore (Darrell) and Althea Gobble (Mike); and many nieces and and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Harrison Jones and mother-in-law Trilene Suits.

A funeral service was scheduled for 1:00PM on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the Akins-Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Tom Jordan and Doug Simonds officiated. Interment followed in the Crestlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Fannin County Scholarship Foundation (https://fanninscholarship.com/) in memory of Steve. The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
