Steve Franklin Hughes, age 73, of McCaysville, GA passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. He was born on June 27, 1947 in McCaysville, GA. Steve had worked as an EMT. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church in McCaysville, GA. Steve was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Winston Hughes and Odeis Dockery Hughes and sister, Sandra Towery. Survivors are his adored wife of fifty-five years, Paulette Hughes; son, Steve "Anthony" Hughes (Lynn); daughters, Rhonda Hyatt (David) and Cindy Petty (Ken); grandchildren, Samantha Petty, Chris Hyatt, Hannah Duran, Cassie Petty, Caitlyn Bettis, Emily Styles and Chase Hyatt; great-grandchildren, Alana Jones, Hayden Hughes, Copper Ware, Luke Duran, Collin Duran and Tora Bettis and brother, Joe Hughes (Marie) also survive. Funeral Services were conducted on Monday, March 15, 2021 from the Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Rice, Rev. Jack Buchanan and Rev. Mitchell Taylor officiating. Music was provided by Braylee Deal and the Midway Baptist Church Choir. Interment followed in the Pantertown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Christopher Hyatt, Chase Hyatt, Trent Abling, Justin Bell, Nick Duran, Harrison Styles, Hayden Hughes, Copper Ware, Luke Duran and Collin Duran. Honorary Pallbearers were Current and Former Members of Fannin County EMS, Buster Fowler, Jim Collis, Ray Stillwell and Doug Dockery.
