The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Stanley William Landis, age 81, of Copperhill, TN who passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at his home. Born in Augusta County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Hobart Russell Landis and Alice Dennison Landis. He was retired for Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. Mr. Landis was a served in the United States Army and the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was an avid horse race fan. He was preceded in death by his companion of many years, Betty Jones. He is survived by his stepson Jimmy Fisher; stepdaughters, Rhonda Hunt and her husband Milton of Jasper and Diane Hall and her husband Gene of Blue Ridge; brother, Billy Landis and his wife Goldie of Mt. Crawford, Virginia; sister-in-law, Doris Landis of Waynesboro, Virginia; grandchildren, Lasenda Anderson, Melinda Bragg, and Adam Hunt; great grandchildren, David Anderson and Brittany Anderson; and several nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Nell Edwards and friends at the Senior Citizen Center in Ducktown. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Deal officiating. Music will be by the Wolf Creek Bluegrass Singers. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008 from the Friendens Church Cemetery in Mt. Crawford, Virginia.
