Sonia Ann Panter, age 73, of Copperhill passed away on May 4, 2026 in Chattanooga. Sonia was born on September 27, 1952 in Copperhill to the late F.M. Panter and Ruth Pulliam Panter. She was of Christian faith as a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Sonia loved visiting people, especially her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, F.M. and Ruth Panter; siblings, Mary Lou Panter, Martha Payne, Douglas Panter, and Kenneth Panter.

Sonia is survived by her nieces, Karen Ward of McCaysville, and Sharon Hampton of Woodstock; nephew, James McDaniel of McCaysville; great-nieces, Ashley (David) Shelton of Mineral Bluff, and Amber Hampton of Newnan, GA; great-nephews, Brandon Ward of McCaysville, and Nathan Hampton of Woodstock; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Luke Shelton of Mineral Bluff, Logan Shelton of Mineral Bluff, Blair Shelton of Mineral Bluff, Axel Quander of Newnan, and Braxton Ward of McCaysville; sister-in-law, Sonia Lou Panter; "her baby" cousin, Shannon Riddle of Copperhill; and many other extended family members and dear friends.

Interment will take place privately in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.
