Skipper Hughes, age 48, of Decatur, TN passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 in the U.T Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Skipper was born in Conyers, GA and was a talented Diesel Mechanic. He had owned and operated a Diesel Mechanic Shop for several years. He was a wonderful husband and father; an avid fisherman, but more than anything he loved his family and loved to laugh. He was adored by many friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.He is survived by his loving wife of twenty five years, Michelle Queen Hughes of the home; son, Seth Hughes and fiance' Elizabeth Harris; daughter, Sarah Faith Shubert; parents, Larry and Jackie Hughes; sister, Paige Johnson; mother-in-law, Ann Ross; sister-in-law Monica (Mike) Lawson; grandchildren Aiden Hughes, Marilyn Shubert; nieces and nephews, Dawn and Jason Millsaps and Molly and Jason Boyd.Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 3:00 PM from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Minister Jeff Shelton and Minister Jeff Howard officiating. Music will be by Kenny & Kim O'Neal. Pallbearers include Jamie Queen, Jason Boyd, Jacob Shubert, Tripp Loudermilk, Sambo Hughes, Mike Lawson, C.J. Holder and L.W.Smith. Honorary pallbearers include Colby Harris, Jerry Harris, Will Moore and Jason Millsaps. Interment will follow in the Crestlawn cemetery.
