Shirley Jean Huffman, known to many as "Mamaw", age 88, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Shirley was born on July 28, 1937, in Copperhill, Tennessee, to the late Howard Burton Couch and Rodah Mabel Galloway Couch. She was of the Baptist faith and dedicated many years of service to Shaw Industries, where she worked as a Lead Creeler Technician.
Shirley found great joy in tending to her flower gardens and had a special love for animals, especially cats and dogs. She also enjoyed working puzzles and completing crossword books.
A devoted wife for 63 years, Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend to many.
She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Frank Hugh Huffman Sr.; and brother, Burton Couch.
Shirley is survived by her children, Greta Mathis of Blue Ridge, GA and Frank Huffman Jr. (Stephanie) of White, GA; grandchildren, Christopher Hall (Danah), Erica Dean, Sarah Morrenzin (Aaron), and Garrett Huffman; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Spencer (William), Aaron Dean (Shelby), and Michaela Hall; great-great grandchildren, Mazikeen Spencer, Reign Spencer, Caroline Spencer, and Ember Spencer; sister, Mildred Huffman (Howard); many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Christopher Hall, Aaron Dean, William Spencer, Garrett Huffman, and Frank Huffman Jr. The family will visit with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge, GA on Monday, June 29, 2026 prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
