Shirley Marie Chapman, age 86, of Morganton, GA passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Fannin County, GA on July 13, 1937, to the late Andrew Jackson Rogers and Carrie Bearden Rogers. She retired from the Clayton County School system after 25 years of service in food services. Shirley was a longtime and faithful member of the Eastside Church of Christ. She was a very talented gardener, who enjoyed flowers and plants. Her other hobbies included cooking, sewing, and word puzzles. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, son, Herbert Lee Chapman; and several siblings.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Herschel Edwin Chapman of the home; children, Rose Marie DeYoung of Morganton, GA, Kathy (Jeff) Guy of Homer, GA and Mark Chapman (Norm Mason) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Sonya (Andrew) Dyaanand, Wesley DeYoung, Robert (Kathryn) DeYoung, Courtney (Matthew) Meng and Blake (Anna) Guy; great grandchildren, Halley Dyaanand, Landon Dyaanand, Ashton DeYoung, Christian DeYoung, Bella DeYoung, Oliver DeYoung, Luna Meng, Thatcher Meng, Meadow Meng and Morrison Guy; brother and sister-in-law, Jacky (Kate) Rogers; sister, Ruth Ann Patterson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Min. Butch Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Andrew Dyaanand, Wesley DeYoung, Landon Dyaanand, Robert DeYoung, Jeff Guy, and Norm Mason.
