Sherry Lynn Ware Burrell, age 64, of Morganton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Blairsville, Georgia.
Sherry was born on April 23, 1962, in Murphy, North Carolina, to the late Lake and Edna Dye Ware. She was a member of Old Jerusalem Baptist Church and dedicated many years of service to Southwestern Child Development, where she found great joy in caring for children.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Burrell; son, Brent Laney; grandson, Scotty Monkus; brothers, Colon Ware, Bud Ware, Robert Ware, and Dean Ware; and sisters, Polly Crowder and Ruth White.
Sherry is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Monkus (Chris); grandchildren, Paige Monkus, Cheyenne Monkus, Traven Monkus, Nathanial Anderson (Ashley), and Kyle Smiley; great-granddaughters, Everleigh Anderson and Emma Anderson; brother, Ronald Ware; sisters, Catherine Wiggins, Janice Johnson, Diane Griffith (Merrell), and Deborah Hughes (Manson); other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Chris Monkus, Traven Monkus, Nathanial Anderson, Jeffrey Kimbrell, Ronald Ware, and Randall Kimbrell. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Kyle Smiley, Brian Hogan, Rev. Harold Crowder, Jack Worley, and Mark Kincaid. The family visited with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge, Georgia on Sunday evening, August 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
