Shelby Rose Runion, age 86, of Turtletown passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at her home. She was born on March 7, 1936 in McCaysville to the late Martin Luther Talley and Etta Pauline Lanning Talley. Shelby accepted the Lord in her heart at an early age, and she was baptized in Fightingtown Creek and later, joined Turtletown Baptist Church. She was also a member of OES in Cocoa Beach, FL. Shelby enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and flowers.

Shelby is also preceded death by her husband, John Luther "Luke" Runion; son, Jonathan Runion; and sisters, Marjorie Helen Welch and Katherine Sue Franklin.

She is survived by daughters, Shelly Deanna Deal, Marjorie Rose (Scott) Bennie, Traci Anne (Darrell) Habbinga, and Julia Suzetta (Eric) Davis; step-daughter, Wanda Ledford; grandchildren, Logan (Lindsey) Davis, Denver (Gracie) Davis, and Mattie Davis; great-grandchildren, Hutson Davis, Ryker Davis, and Adalynn Davis; brother, Phillip Henry (Rita) Talley; and nephew and niece, Joe and Beverly Welch.

The family would also like to extend thanks to the special caretakers that cared for her the last year of her life, Whitney Taylor, Taylor Enriquez, Joyce "Coot" Pope, Sherry Kelly, and Kaylea White.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Turtletown Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Matheson and Rev. David O'Neal officiating. Music will be provided by Janice Reid. Mrs. Runion will lie in state at the church from 1:00 pm until the service hour of 3:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Turtletown Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers, Scott Bennie, Joe Welch, Eric Davis, Logan Davis, Denver Davis, and Isaac Cheeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Taylor, Jeff Welch, and Steve Runion. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 5:00 pm till 9:00 pm.
