The Akins Funeral of Blue Ridge announces the death of Shelby Dean Harris, age 73, of Mineral Bluff, GA who passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 at home. Mrs. Harris was born in Copperhill, TN to the late Walter and Maybell White Walden on November 9, 1937. She was retired from Macy Department Store in sales. Mrs. Harris was of the Baptist Faith and was a past worthy matron of the Beulah Chapter #21 Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived her husband, James L. Harris of Mineral Bluff, GA; son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Charlotte Harris of Mineral Bluff, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Richard Daily of Lawrenceville, GA; brothers, Gordan Walden of Mineral Bluff, GA and Donnie Michael Walden of AZ; sister, Diane Rakestraw of Marietta, GA; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Dr. Jim Crews officiating.
