Sheila Yvonne York, age 56, of McCaysville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Morganton, Georgia. She was born on December 30, 1968 in Copperhill, Tennessee to David York and Clara Godfrey. Growing up, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Copperhill. She had recently been attending the House of the Living God. Sheila had a big heart. She was always willing to help others and often played the role of "mother hen" to many. She also had an affection for animals, taking in many throughout the years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Brian Bowling; Billy Wayne Bowling, Jr.; and step-father, Billy Wayne Bowling, Sr.

Sheila is survived by her daughter, Kristen (Tommy Gregory) Brown; son, Matthew Brown; grandchildren, Anna-Mae Gregory, Roland Gregory, and one on the way; sister, Karen VanZandt; brother, Jeremy York; step-brother, James Payne; step-sister, Mary Payne; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. York was held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Shelly Bishop officiating. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Monday, prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
