Sharon Long McDaris, age 75, of McCaysville, GA passed away on December 12, 2018 in Marietta, GA. Born in Copperhill, TN, she was the daughter of the late William Grady and Dorothy Marie Golden Long. She was a very active member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church where she was involved with the Church Choir, WMU and loved working with the card ministry that she held dearly. Mrs. McDaris was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Robert McDaris, Sr., one son, Joseph Robert "Joey" McDaris, Jr.; one brother, Sam Long; two sisters, Shelby Meaders and Sandra Pinson; and one brother-in-law, Joe Pinson. Survivors include her children, Pamela (Chris) Mashburn of Jasper, GA, Tim (Kim) McDaris of Marietta, GA and Kellie McDaris also of Jasper, GA; brothers, Fred (Marlene) Long of McCaysville, GA and Bill (Faye) Long of Arcadia, FL; sister, Wanda (David) Galloway of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer (Sherman) McDaris-Ray, Josh McDaris, Aubrie McDaris and Ryan Eckert; great grandchildren, Thatcher and Lexi McDaris; sister-in-law, Linda Long of Morganton, GA. Memorial services were conducted on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Jordan and Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating. Music was provided by Derek Stewart and Jerrie Sue Massengale. Interment followed in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family strongly encourages donations be made to the Williamstown United Methodist Church Building Fund at P.O. Box 219 McCaysville, GA 30555 in her memory.
