Shannon Larry Callihan, 52, of McCaysville, Georgia, passed away at his home on August 7, 2026.
Shannon was born on June 15, 1974, in Cleveland, Tennessee, to Larry and Juanette O'Neal Callihan. He was a devoted member of Glen Hope Baptist Church, and enjoyed playing the piano and singing gospel music. He worked for many years as a water treatment operator, serving both Fannin and Gilmer counties.
Shannon had a love for life and enjoyed many things, including fishing, traveling to the beach and out West, and simply being on the road and taking in new places. He was an avid reader and cherished the time he spent with his family. Shannon also worked at Nature's Collectibles General Store, where he especially enjoyed serving fudge and visiting with those who came through the store. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Shannon is preceded in death by his father, Larry Callihan; brother, Jason Callihan; and his grandparents, Carl and Louise O'Neal and Calvin and Bertha Callihan.
He is survived by his mother, Juanette Callihan; siblings, Kim Bowers (Mike) and Matt Callihan (Sherry); nieces and nephews, Kayla Stanford (Josh), Danielle Morgan, Josh Bowers, Maddie Garrison (Nathaniel), Brelyn Kreis, Sarah Kreis, Garrison Kreis (Morgan), and Zach White (Shalah); many great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from Glen Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Lamar O'Neal, Rev. Craig O'Neal, and Rev. Nathan Chancey officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Kenny and Kim O'Neal, Kayla Stanford, and Rebecca O'Neal. Interment will follow in the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Matt Callihan, Eric O'Neal, Billy Mashburn, Josh Bowers, Josh Stanford, and Nathaniel Garrison. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Josh Barnes, Brelyn Kreis, Garrison Kreis, Mike Bowers, and Zach White. The family will visit with friends at Glen Hope Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
